He joins on 1 August having spent 13 years at Aviva Investors in a similar role and left in April as part of that firm’s ongoing restructure.
Before Aviva he spent 12 years at Henderson Global Investors where he switched emphasis from being a portfolio manager to focusing more on the development of new products and new ways to deliver existing products.
He also has experience working with Lloyds Bank and then Gartmore Fund Management and was recently chairman of the IMA Product and Regulation Committee.
Based in London, Soutter will report to global head of distribution Claude Chene.
