John Peta, who joined on Oct 15 from Boston-based Acadian Asset Management, will lead the EMD team alongside Henry Stipp. Peta was head of EMD while at Acadian and has more than 20 years’ experience in fixed income and sovereign analysis.
Jim Cielinski, head of fixed income at Threadneedle, said: “John’s specialist expertise, particularly in local currency debt, significantly enhances the experience of the team and we look forward to his contribution to our culture of collaboration, discussion and debate.”
Threadneedle has also hired Tammie Chan as fund manager focused on investment grade insurance funds, Ryan Staszewski as corporate credit analyst specialising in utilities and securitisation in the investment grade team and James Waters as fixed income investment specialist.
Chan joins from Pembroke Managing Agency, Staszewski from JP Morgan and Waters from Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Former EMD head Richard House and two of his colleagues left Threadneedle in April to join Standard Life Investments. Following this, the asset manager restructured its global fixed income team and made a number of hires.
In June, Clifford Lau was hired as head of Asia Pacific fixed income while Zara Kazaryan joined as emerging market corporate debt fund manager in July. Mindaugas Lepeska was also appointed emerging markets analyst.
Threadneedle manages over £29bn in fixed income, with £1.8bn in EMD. Its global fixed income team now boasts 48 investment professionals.
