When she joins in September, Aitken will step into the role vacated by Hugh Cutler who left the business in April this year.
She will report to Mike Craston, L&G’s global head of distribution.
Until June last year, Aitken was head of distribution at BNY Mellon subsidiary, Insight Investment Management. Prior to that she was a managing director at Merrill Lynch Investment Management.

According to Craston there is currently considerable momentum behind LGIM’s continued business expansion.
It is currently focused on diversifying its investment capabilities and services among its core UK market while at the same time looking to grow its distribution base across Europe and the Middle East.
Aitken, Craston says, will take the lead on the group’s distribution strategy for future growth as well as help underpin its commitment to building and retaining strong relationships.
