Alliance Bernstein UK chief executive and head of EMEA client group Jamie Hammond is leaving the firm at the end of the month, Portfolio Adviser has learned.

Hammond (pictured) will depart at the end of February after five years “to pursue new opportunities”.

AB chief administrative officer (UK) Ian Foster has been named acting CEO of AB (UK) and Onur Erzan, head of global client group, will oversee EMEA distribution while a permanent replacement for Hammond is found.

Erzan joined the group earlier this year from McKinsey where he was senior partner and co-leader of the firm’s wealth management and asset management practice.

An AB spokesperson said: “We want to take this opportunity to thank Jamie for his contributions to AB and wish him all the best for the future.”

Before joining AB in January 2016, Hammond spent 15 years at Franklin Templeton where he was managing director of Europe, heading its retail and institutional business across the region.

Before that he worked at Hill Samuel Asset Management as a national sales manager.

AB has been making a push into the UK retail investment space in the past two years. Last March, it unveiled four Oeics under its UK funds umbrella, each based on existing Sicav strategies. This followed the launch of its first Oeic in April 2019.
