Columbia Threadneedle has announced changes to its emerging market debt team as it reveals that Tim Jagger, who had headed up the team for the last two years, has passed away suddenly.
Jagger (pictured) joined Columbia Threadneedle’s Singapore office in 2017 from Aviva Investors before relocating to London to become head of emerging market debt in 2018. He had been a portfolio manager on Columbia Threadneedle’s flagship EMD funds, including the Threadneedle Emerging Market Bond fund plus a number of Sicavs.
Columbia Threadneedle CIO William Davies described Jagger as an outstanding fund manager and leader.
“He was much admired and respected by colleagues within his team and across Columbia Threadneedle as a whole. He will be remembered by clients and colleagues with much warmth, affection and respect. Tim’s sense of humour and caring nature helped him stand out as a natural leader and friend.
“I speak on behalf of the whole of Columbia Threadneedle in expressing our deep and heartfelt sadness at his passing. Tim’s family and friends are very much in our prayers at this difficult time.”
Jager had 25 years’ experience in fixed income portfolio management and had spent a considerable part of his career at the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Adrian Hilton, who is currently head of global rates and currencies, will become head of EMD on an interim basis. He will co-manage the Threadneedle EMD pooled funds on an interim basis alongside current deputy manager Chris Cooke.
Both men have worked closely with Jagger. They will continue will work alongside Ed Al-Hussainy, who leads Columbia Threadneedle’s seven-strong EMD research team.
Hilton is a senior fund manager with close to 20 years’ experience in fixed income markets and has been with Columbia Threadneedle since 2016.
