Having assumed the newly-added role on 15 June, Zachary will work alongside chief executive Alistair Reid as the firm seeks to expand its operations.

“Karen is joining Crux at an extremely exciting time and the experience she brings will be invaluable as we look to grow our business,” said Reid. “We feel very fortunate to have attracted someone of Karen’s professional standing within the industry to Crux.”

Zachary arrives from a global head of client operations and outsourcing position at Man Group, prior to which she was director of client service operations at Henderson Global Investors, in addition to roles at Fidelity International and New Star Asset Management.

Formed in October 2014, Crux’s investment team consists fund managers Richard Pease and James Milne, both formerly of Henderson Global Investors, investment team manager Emma de Sybel, and analyst Roland Grender.

The firm’s flagship fund, Crux European Special Situations, an amalgamation of Pease and Milne’s Henderson equivalent which was merged with the CRUX fund upon their arrival in October, has returned 73.8% over five years against the sector average of 57.9%.
