For the past seven years, Holliman and Wilson built up Threadneedle’s North American franchise to in excess of $6bn in equity assets.

Polar Capital said the new team will work on a North American Ucits fund which was anticipated to launch within “a few months”.

“We are delighted that Andrew and Richard have chosen to join us and lead our North American funds initiative,” Polar Capital CEO Tim Woolley said. “Their recruitment is consistent with our strategy of seeking to expand our product offering to clients through the hiring of experienced managers with a proven record of outperformance.”

“Richard and I are looking forward to working with Polar’s existing world-class sector and geographical teams,” said Holliman.

“Polar’s rare combination of entrepreneurial and performance driven culture and robust infrastructure make it an ideal environment for a fund manager to work to the best of their ability and consistently add value for clients,” he added.
