Internal investment teams at firms including Allianz Global Investors, Deutsche Asset Management and M&G Investments were recognised for their contribution to the insurance industry at the award’s very first event on Wednesday evening.

The awards are the only independent platform to recognise the achievements of teams working within the insurance investment community and covered 11 different categories.

Bob Swarup, co-founder of the Insurance Investment Exchange and an awards judge, said: “Given that this was only our first year I am delighted we had such a strong field of candidates.

“The numerous strategies and solutions put forward to meet the many challenges of the current insurance world demonstrated a rich diversity of thought, and it is clear that innovation is alive and well.

“I especially thank all our judges for giving their valuable time and sharing their experience to pick some truly worthy winners.”

Judges of the awards included David Worsfold, contributing editor at the Insurance Investment Exchane, Rob Groves, a CIO at Friends Life Group and Dan Shrupp, principal at Camdor Global Advisers.

MEP and chairman of the Allied World Managing Agency Jonathan Evans and non-executive director of Universal Insurance Company Angela Darling were also on the 9-strong judging panel, as was Charles Stanley CIO Paul Abberley.
