He is handing over the reins on the £111m BlackRock Commodities Income investment trust to Olivia Ker, with Thomas Holl continuing as deputy manager.
Davis has managed the fund since its launch in 2005, since when it has returned 57% against a 30% return from the peer group. The new team will continue to follow the existing investment approach, said BlackRock.
Davis is “to explore other career opportunities inside and outside of BlackRock,” said a spokesperson.
He has also stepped down as co-manager of three open-ended vehicles: the £122m BlackRock World Agriculture fund, and onshore and offshore versions of the £20m BlackRock Natural Resources Growth & Income strategy.
He will be succeeded on World Agriculture by co-manager Desmond Cheung, while Cheung and Catherine Raw will join co-managers Joshua Freedman and Holl on the Natural Resources Growth & Income vehicles.
