Wisdomtree has nabbed Ravinder Azad from Invesco’s ETF business to head up UK and Nordic sales.

Azad had been UK ETF business development director at Invesco for 12 years and previously was part of the asset manager’s investment trust sales team.

At Wisdomtree he will be responsible for strategic planning, strengthening existing relationships, and broadening WisdomTree’s investor base, a press release said.

Wisdomtree head of Europe Alexis Marinof said: “This is an important hire for us, as we increase our sales coverage across the UK and Nordics. He brings deep knowledge of the UK investment management industry, particularly within the ETF market and across a wide range of traditional and smart-beta ETP strategies.”

Azad has been appointed alongside Sam Coppell and Cameron Trundle, who will both be part of the UK sales team.

Coppell was previously an asset reconcilitation analyst at Blackrock, while Trundle was a sales manager at Last Word Media, the publisher of Portfolio Adviser.

Azad said: “Wisdomtree is a unique and innovative ETP provider, and it continues to develop differentiated products offering distinctive exposures across asset classes.”

Invesco focuses on trading with fresh hires

Invesco announced changes to its ETF team in December, two months after Azad’s resignation, with Andy Dwiar becoming head of ETF capital markets for the UK, Benelux and Nordic regions.

Dwiar joined from BMO Global Asset Management’s now defunct ETF business where he was head of capital markets for EMEA. At Invesco, he is responsible for developing and enhancing the liquidity and trading on Invesco’s Ucits ETFs.

Last year it also strengthened the business development team with the appointment of Ambrice Miller.

Invesco head of ETF capital markets for EMEA Jim Goldie said in a statement at the time: “In an environment where every basis point counts, trading is becoming an increasingly competitive and important part of the ETF experience and we strive to offer our clients a best-in-class service when it comes to buying and selling our ETFs.”

Before BMO GAM, Dwiar worked on both buy and sell side with roles at Bluebay Asset Management, Thames River Capital and Credit Suisse.
