WisdomTree has launched its first sustainable core equity strategy in the form of the WisdomTree Global Sustainable Equity Ucits ETF.

Developed in collaboration with Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM), the Article 9 strategy aims to track the performance of companies from developed markets that positively contribute to social and environmental objectives.

The product listed on the Börse Xetra this morning (11 June) and will float on the London Stock Exchange tomorrow. It has a total expense ratio of 0.29%.

The fund will utilise the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) framework, distilling 11 of the 17 SDGs into four key pillars: Climate action; Circular economy; Healthy ecosystems; and Social equity.

In addition, the strategy seeks to avoid negative externalities through ‘Do No Significant Harm’ and ‘Good Governance’ screens and excludes investments into controversial business activities.

Alexis Marinof, head of Europe at WisdomTree, said: “Until now, our sustainable investing solutions have leveraged our expertise and expert partnerships in commodities and thematic equities, providing access to the metals and companies linked to the energy transition.

“Today, in collaboration with ILIM, we have launched our first core sustainable equity ETF. The new article 9 ETF provides a differentiated approach to global developed market equities by integrating 11 of the 17 SDGs in the investment process.”

ILIM currently manages over €53bn (£44.7bn) assets in strategies that promote ESG characteristics.
