Based in Windsor House in Harrogate, the firm has opened its doors with an initial team of three with ambitions to grow “rapidly” by offering a niche service it claims can rival larger national firms, while retaining the bespoke services of a boutique.

Harrogate Wealth Management will offer retirement planning, tax planning, personal inheritance, investment and pensions advice.

Hurst said: “Having been in the profession for almost 20 years, I understand that every client is unique with their own particular circumstances and aims, meaning that they need a tailored, highly personalised approach.

“Putting the client first is at the core of our business – we pride ourselves on our ability to listen and work closely with each client to help them achieve their life goals and financial objectives.”

He said the business has invested heavily in its back office systems in order to create scale and efficiencies required for a growing business.  It has also adopted a transparent free structure to avoid “hidden surprises”.

Hurst recognises the opportunities for new firms following regulatory changes including the Retail Distribution Review in addition to growing demand for pensions advice and retirement planning as a result of pension reform.

He added: “Given the uncertain economic climate, many people are wondering how best to protect and grow their wealth and need advice from experts they can trust. We are already receiving a number of referrals, particularly via our network of professional contacts, and are confident that the business will grow quickly.”

Office manager Lynne Bowman will work alongside Hurst with a consultant due to be appointed shortly with further hires expected in early 2017.
