Waverton Investment Management has hired Brooks Macdonald’s former business development director to boost its adviser sales firepower.

Andrew Denham-Davis (pictured) joined Waverton’s adviser solutions business on Monday, reporting to director and head of intermediary sales Mark Barrington.

Denham-Davis left Brooks Macdonald in March after 15 years with the firm, latterly as director for business development managing a sales team of 35 individuals.

He spent the past eight months with sustainable real assets investment manager Thomas Lloyd Group as regional manager of financial intermediaries.

His career in financial services began in 1990 as a life inspector at Commercial Union Life Assurance Company, before intermediary sales roles at Barclays Unicorn and then Morgan Stanley Quilter.

Barrington noted Denham-Davis was “instrumental” in establishing Brooks Macdonald’s discretionary fund management business and spearheading its funds under management growth.

A press release announcing the hire said Denham-Davis’s team helped Brooks Macdonald increase its assets under management, from around £370m prior to listing on Aim to more than £12bn.

Barrington said: “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, which will play a key role in the next exciting stage of our corporate development – of which our distribution team is in the vanguard.”

Denham-Davis said Waverton’s multi-asset investment team has an “excellent reputation” having spent the past six months reviewing the marketplace.

“I have watched their progress carefully over the last few years – their investment-led approach has culminated in the MPS being available on 20 platforms – few, if any, solutions will have that accessibility.”

In the past year Waverton has sought to boost its in-house financial planning expertise. At the end of last year, it bought Timothy James & Partners (TJP), an adviser firm based in Tottenham Court Road in London.
