Waverton Investment Management has appointed Steve Chhoker as chief financial officer from 1 August 2023.
Chhoker has close to two decades of experience in wealth management, previously holding senior finance positions at WH Ireland, Saunderson House and Brooks Macdonald.
The firm described him as “an ideal fit for the growing business”. He will be a member of the firm’s management committee, taking full responsibility for the finance function.
Chhoker replaces David Welch, who leaves after serving 26 years with Waverton.
Waverton reported last month that it had attracted net new assets of £1.4bn in 2022, an increase of 42% on the previous year. This helped to take total assets under management to £9.1bn.
CEO Nick Tucker said: “I am absolutely delighted that Steve is joining Waverton and I know he will play an important part in our growth story going forward. We have ambitious plans to take the business to the next level and his strategic outlook will be invaluable.
“I would like to thank my friend and colleague Dave Welch for the many, many years of dedicated service he has given Waverton and wish him well for the future.”
Chhoker added: “Joining Waverton at this time is an exciting move – like many others, I have seen the business grow and increase its reach significantly. With investment made into the firm’s technology and people, the future looks very promising. I look forward to helping Nick and the team achieve its ambitions and build on all the hard work to date.”
