Ware joined the retail fixed income team in September 2012, having previously worked on the secured loans team.
The fund, which has around £760m under management, has outperformed the Sterling Strategic Bond index over one year returning 14.4% against 11.4%. Over three and five years the fund has underperformed however, 19% vs. 23.9%, and 31.5% vs. 39.2% respectively.

The fund currently has around 63% allocated to high yield, an area in which Ware has significant experience.
John Pattullo said: “We are looking to differentiate the fund from the Strategic Bond Fund and bringing Nick on board, with his wealth of experience in the sector, will certainly help with its reshaping.
“The significant allocation to high yield is a reflection of the importance of income from this fund for investors; investors in these funds are more reliant on the income generated by the fund than those that for example release income on a quarterly basis.”
