Vontobel nabs salesman from BNY Mellon IM for UK intermediaries team

Swiss asset manager says it has seen strong growth in the wholesale space

Vontobel Asset Management has nabbed Freddie Solway from BNY Mellon Investment Management to become a relationship manager in its UK office.

Solway will focus on intermediary distributors, such as discretionary wealth managers, private banks, banks, asset managers and IFAs.

At BNY Mellon IM, he was a sales director in the UK wholesale team. He has previously worked at Canaccord Genuity and JP Morgan Asset Management.

Vontobel head of UK and Ireland Sheridan Bowers said: “We have seen strong growth within the intermediary channel for our investment solutions and Freddie will play an instrumental role in the continuing development of the this business.

“His client-focused mindset supports our ongoing commitment to providing attractive investment solutions that meet a broad range of client needs.”

The Swiss asset manager had CHF288.4bn (£238.4bn) assets under management globally at the end of 2019. Of that, CHF21.5bn was managed for UK clients.

The asset manager owns fixed income specialist Twentyfour Asset Management.
