Vermeer Partners has appointed JM Finn’s James Edgedale as joint chairman.

Edgedale will work alongside existing chairman Michael Kerr-Dineen and will be supported by director and head of fund research William Buckhurst.

He spent the entirety of his 37-year career at JM Finn, latterly as chairman. Under his guidance, the firm increased its funds under management from £1bn to nearly £10bn.

His role will commence in July 2022 after his lock-in period at JM Finn expires.

Vermeer Partners CEO Simon Melling said that James is a “highly regarded figure” within the City with a “formidable track record of growth.”

“His arrival strengthens our senior team and demonstrates our ability to attract top talent to the partnership,” said Melling. “This news comes on the back of impressive growth for Vermeer Partners going from start-up to AUM of £1.8 billion in just over two years.”

Vermeer Partners chairman Michael Kerr- Dineen said: “Bringing James on board is an important milestone for Vermeer Partners. He is a highly talented operator, with a very strong reputation in the industry both as a business leader and an investment manager.”

“We are delighted James has chosen to join our partnership to work alongside colleagues who are longstanding and experienced investment managers. James understands our ethos, and I know he will fit into the culture of the firm.”
