American investment giant Vanguard is planning to open its second UK office in Manchester.

The firm already has an office near Cannon Street in the City of London but is now set to expand its presence in Britain.

Reports say Vanguard has signed a ten-year lease on a 14,000-square-foot office at St. Peter’s Square in a Barings-owned building called Landmark.

It is not yet known how many staff will be based there and the proportion which will be new hires.

Vanguard has been in the headlines for other reasons recently, with the firm pulling out of the investment industry climate alliance.

The firm is the second largest investment manager in the world by assets behind BlackRock, with around $8 trillion under management.

A Vanguard spokesperson confirmed the reports.
