He joins as a portfolio manager reporting to head of fixed income, Rod Davidson, and will take up his post at the end of May.
He was with SWIP for the past six years, most recently as investment director and co-manager of the £76m Absolute Return Bond Fund run by James Carver. The fund was launched six years ago, in June 2006.
He joined SWIP as an investment analyst in the global bonds and economics team. In 2007 he worked directly with the portfolio management team as a fixed income dealer.
As well as running money at SWIP he is the industrial sector analyst and has experience working on gilts and index-linked bond funds.
Prior to joining SWIP he was a yield analyst with JP Morgan Chase.
At the Alliance Trust AGM on 27 April, Laxey Partners, one of its shareholders put forward proposals calling for a comprehensive review including the company’s investment performance, including the possibility of an external manager taking over control of its management.
The resolution was not adopted.
