James McGuire has announced his retirement, leaving his role as an executive director at UBS Wealth Management after 23-and-a-half years at the firm.

McGuire (pictured) joined UBS in 1999 as a head of investment funds IFA distribution.

During his time at UBS, McGuire established the first UBS Global Asset Management non-institutional distribution arm within the UK. He was also a member of the firm’s Global Investment Funds Forum, and its UK Wealth Management Investment Committee.

His career in the investment industry spans nearly four decades. He joined UBS from BMO Global Asset Management, having also worked at F&C Asset Management, Scottish Widows, and Natwest Stockbrokers.

In a post on Linkedin, McGuire said it had been a “long journey” and he has decided to “call it a day and pretend to do some gardening”.

“A large part of my career has been at UBS and to my friends and colleagues there I thank you, not least for the support you gave me when times were tough. I wish you well for the future,” he said.
