Buckle was formerly head of fixed income at Principle Global Investors and prior to that head of currency at BlackRock.

The fund will sit in the IMA Cautious Managed Sector and invests in a globally diversified multi-asset portfolio.

It has the remit to invest across both traditional and alternative asset classes and will use top-down asset allocation.

Currently the fund has 36% in developed market equities and 4% in emerging market equities.

Its fixed income exposure is 20% government bonds, 10% investment grade bonds, 5% high yield bonds and 5% EM debt.

Finally, the fund’s alternatives split is 3% commodities, 10% hedge funds/absolute return funds and 7% real estate.

The global investment solutions team will aim to implement their views quickly to try and "successfully navigate markets", UBS said.

Active currency management and risk management will also be used in the hope of providing smoother returns in different market conditions.

Warren Tonkinson, head of UK strategic alliances for UBS, said: "The fund includes a share class with a competitive AMC of only 0.4%, which is specifically designed to meet the needs of advisers and clients post the introduction of RDR.

"The fund may form the core element of an investor’s portfolio. By investing across multiple asset classes and geographies, the level of diversification could allow an investor to vary their overall risk profile by investing in other specialist funds."
