The branch establishes a Midlands foothold for TMI, and will see Swatton lead the company’s operations in the region as it moves to expand its UK presence.
Swatton, who began his senior consultant role with the firm in April, arrived from a director of wealth management and financial planning berth at Towry, prior to which he was a financial adviser with Edward Jones.
“I am really pleased that we now have a presence in Birmingham,” said Matt Phillips, TMI managing director.
“We want to increase our footprint across the UK and this is part of our plan to do so. Matt’s expertise will help Birmingham and the surrounding areas benefit from the broad range of financial planning and wealth management services that TMI offers.”
The opening of the Birmingham office takes the firm’s base count to five, joining branches in London, Edinburgh, Southampton and the Isle of Man.
It comes on the back of an active period for the firm, with the September purchase of investment manager Broadstone followed by the recruitment of senior portfolio manager Scott Baikie a month later.
In March TMI also announced the launch of four model portfolios in conjunction with Cornerstone Asset Management.
