Investec Investment Banking has made three senior hires for its closed-ended funds team.

The division was set up in November last year.

He was head of Invesco’s listed funds sales team where he managed the relationship between the fund manager, the investment trust’s non-executive directors, shareholders and brokers.

He also led the sales and distribution team behind Invesco’s PowerShare range of ETFs.

As well as Mitchell, Investec has taken on Henry Freeman as head of closed-end funds research and Charlie Stagg who will part of the closed-end funds sales team.Freeman was previously at Liberum Capital where he ran the alternatives and investment funds research. His

specialist sectors include private equity funds, hedge funds and fixed income. Prior to Liberum, he ran the Forsyth Global Private Equity and Global Thematic funds.

Stagg joins from JP Morgan Cazenove where he joined the research department of the JPMC investment companies’ team in July 2006. He subsequently moved to a sales role with a dual sales and sales trading role.
