On gardening leave until February, Gordon was with Skagen for over four years, having joined in June 2011.

He will take up a similar role at an as yet unnamed asset manager.

He previously worked as a regional sales manager at Liontrust Asset Management, having also spent seven years as a strategic sales manager at New Star Asset Management, prior to its acquisition by Henderson Global Investors in 2009.

UK Institutional head Kate Rickards will take on Gordon’s role for the immediate future.

Skagen first made its global equity funds available to UK investors in 2013, including its flagship £3bn emerging markets vehicle Kon-Tiki, which has had a tough time of late given Asian market turmoil.
