Tilney Smith & Williamson has hired Will Matthewman from Charles Stanley as an investment manager in its Exeter office.
Matthewman (pictured) joined Charles Stanley fresh out of university as a trainee investment adviser in 2014. From there he became a chartered wealth manager and was responsible for servicing key private client, trust and charity relationships, as well as building bespoke portfolios for clients.
Tilney Smith & Williamson said his appointment provides its West Country clients with a locally based investment management contact for the first time.
The wealth manager has been ramping up recruitment this year, announcing hires in the South East, Northern Ireland and London. In July it set up a dedicated investment team in Newcastle.
Mark Wilkins, managing partner of Tilney Smith & Williamson’s Exeter office, said: “We have ambitious plans to continue to grow our presence in the South West and I know Will’s experience will be of considerable benefit to both new and current clients.”
Tilney Smith & Williamson took in £1bn of net new money in H1 2021, over double the previous year, which bumped assets under management to £54.8bn by the end of June.
