Justin Ogilvie will run the newly-created team as investment manager at the Bristol office and help support Tilney’s already established financial planning arm.

Ogilvie has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and previously worked with Greig Middleton and Cazenove & Co and has just ended a nine-year spell as a senior investment manager with Smith and Williamson.

While there are not yet specific numbers as to how big the new team will be, a spokesperson confirmed more hires for the investment team were “in the pipeline”.

Alan Edwards, head of investment management for England, said: “Justin is a highly experienced investment manager and has considerable experience developing client relationships. The development of a local investment management presence in Bristol will help reinforce Tilney’s “two expert” approach to supporting clients with both financial planning advice and tailored investment management.

“As we look to expand our business, we will be looking for investment managers of the highest calibre.”

The hire comes after the Tilney Group revealed it would be expanding and hiring staff for its teams across 30 offices and changed its name from Tilney BestInvest following its completed acquisition of Towry in 2016.

Andy Brown has also recently been appointed direct equity team leader within its central investment team based in London, reporting to Ben Seager-Scott, director of investment strategy and research.
