Holliman, who also managed Threadneedle’s Global Extended Alpha Fund, has been at Threadneedle for the past seven years. His American Fund is a topquartile performer over one, three and five years, according to data from Financial Express.

He will be replaced on the American Fund by Threadneedle US equities head Cormac Weldon, who will be supported by Stephen Moore. Jeremy Podger, head of global equities, will become lead manager on Global Extended Alpha, supported by Steve Thornber.

Richard Wilson, who managed institutional and segregated mandates at Threadneedle as part of the US equities team, is also to leave the firm.

“While we are disappointed, we believe Threadneedle’s collaborative, team-based approach underlies our successful performance across asset classes, including in US equities,” said Threadneedle CIO Mark Burgess.

“Our US equities performance has been particularly strong under the leadership of Cormac Weldon, who has been with Threadneedle for 14 years, and I am confident this will continue.”

Polar Capital has been expanding its capabilities in recent months, most notably through the hire of William Calvert and team from Axa Framlington last October.
