House resigned from Threadneedle at the beginning of April after five years with the firm and has been on garden leave since.

While at Threadneedle he managed the £741m Emerging Market Bond Fund and the £76.2m Emerging Market Local Fund.

Under House’s management the cumulative performance of both funds significantly lagged their respective indices across all recorded time frames, according to their latest factsheets.

House will be joined at SLI by Mark Baker and Nicolas Jaquier who also worked in the Threadneedle fixed income team for six and two years respectively.

Rod Paris, head of investments at SLI, said: "SLI is committed to offering investors the widest range of investment opportunities and providing investment solutions tailored to clients’ needs.

"I believe our strategic decision to increase our capability in emerging market bonds will enhance the suite of solutions we have designed to help clients achieve their investment targets."

He added that House & co would not only bring the ability to run EMD mandates, but would also enrich the many global fixed income and multi-asset strategies run by SLI.

Upon House’s departure Threadneedle announced a restructure of its fixed income capability, putting a macroeconomic strategy group in its place.

It said its reasoning behind this was the blurring of traditional boundaries between EM and DM strategies as they became less relevant.
