Sycomore Asset Management, a subsidiary of Generali Investments, has launched the Sycomore European Strategic Sovereignty strategy to invest in listed European companies operating in areas central to Europe’s economic resilience.
Classified as an Article 8 SFDR fund, it invests primarily in continental Europe, with a focus on France, Italy and Germany. The fund is built around four main themes: digital transformation/technological innovation, energy independence and critical infrastructure, material and industrial value chains and security.
More than half of the portfolio is expected to be invested in companies below €20bn. It is managed by Hugo Mas and Alban Préaubert and supported by the wider Sycomore AM team.
Denis Panel, CEO of Sycomore AM, said: “A sustainable economy needs reliable energy, resilient infrastructure, critical technologies, and the right skills.
“To us, sustainable sovereignty means reducing strategic dependencies while preserving Europe’s capacity to compete and act over the long term.”
Pierre-Alexis Dumont, CIO of Sycomore AM, added: “We believe European sovereignty will be one of the major investment themes of the coming decades.
“The opportunity extends beyond the largest companies to less visible small- and mid-cap businesses that are essential to Europe’s economic resilience and strategic autonomy.”
