He will take over as manager of the SWIP North American, Scottish Widows American Smaller Companies and Scottish Widows American Select Growth Fund. He will be supported by investment manager Karolina Noculak who has been co-managing these funds with Ford since 2008.

Kinghorn, an investment director within the global equities team at SWIP, was previously responsible for managing the North American and Latin American equity desk at The Scottish Investment Trust.

Another change within the global equity team is that Greig Bryson will remain at SWIP, his role previously being described as "transitional". He will remain as manager of the Scottish Widows Euroland and Scottish Widows European Select Growth Fund, as well as providing cover for Catie Wearmouth’s SWIP European Fund while she is on maternity leave until Q1 next year.

Nick Ford is still under contract to SWIP though he is to join MAM Funds as the group’s US equities manager. As well as his experience at SWIP, Ford was previously co-manager of the US Smaller Companies Fund at Gartmore – where he worked with MAM Funds’ managing director Gervais Williams – manager of US unit trusts for Sun Alliance and Clerical Medical, as well as a member of the small cap team at F&C Asset Management.
