The company will open offices in Tokyo and Los Angeles on 1 January, and is set to open an office in Toronto in June.

It is also expanding its London office, taking an additional floor of the Gherkin, as well as its US and Hong Kong hubs.

The company’s Paris and Frankfurt teams will also move to bigger offices, while its Sydney-based team is in the process of doubling in size.

This expansion comes after the recent introduction of offices in New York, Munich, Zurich, Stockholm, Brussels, Milan and Madrid.

Standard Life Investments has also signed a lease to occupy an entire office space in Edinburgh from 2017.

Keith Skeoch, chief executive at Standard Life Investments, said: “[We] have seen considerable global expansion in 2014, both in assets under management and people.

“This organic growth, along with the recent integration of Ignis Asset Management and Standard Life Wealth, plus the global collaboration agreement with Manulife, means we needed to prepare for the future and ensure we have the right strategy for our long-term estate portfolio worldwide.”

In September 2013, the company appointed Virginia Devereux Wong as its head of institutional wholesale business in Asia.

Wong has been responsible for developing Standard Life Investments private banking and wholesale distribution businesses in Asia.
