Following feedback from focus groups with advisers and para-planners the firm has created two new job types and said the reshaped team would be comprised of “highly skilled and dedicated individuals, capable of supporting the needs of advisers”.
The first type of new role is that of ‘wealth management consultant’ whose job will be to work with advisers to identify opportunities to grow their business. They will particularly focus on areas such as fund management, investment solutions, retirement planning and protection.
In addition Skandia has created ‘development consultants’ who will provide advisers with on-going account support on a day-to-day basis, helping them to make the most of the potential within their existing customer base.
Last week Skandia announced it had created an investment solutions team to build a Select range, due to launch next year.
This is the latest in a number of developments since it was revealed Old Mutual Wealth would swallow the Skandia brand.
Skandia’s new sales director in the UK has been named as Steve Powell, who will report into Peter Mann, managing director of the UK.
Filtering down to the next level, Nick Jones will be head of sales for the south, while Gary Stirrup will be head of sales for the north.
Powell will also head up a strategic sales team and a specialist sales team with Nigel Jefferies being appointed to the role of head of strategic relationships.
He commented: “The new 80 strong sales team will be nimbler and more effective, with a strong leadership team. Advisers will continue to receive dedicated, specialist support, and we are confident this new approach will provide unrivalled adviser support, something we will continue to be renowned for.”
