St. James’s Place has poached Justin Onuekwusi from Legal & General Investment Management to become its chief investment officer.
He will take up the role in October and report in to director of investments Tom Beal.
Onuekwusi brings more than 20 years of industry experience with him to SJP. Most recently he was head of retail investments, EMEA, and head of retail multi-asset funds at LGIM.
He also held positions at Aviva Investors, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Aon Consulting earlier in his career.
Beal commented: “Justin will lead the development of our investment proposition, asset allocation approach and selection of our fund managers, supported by the wider investment committee and our growing in-house investment team.”

SJP has over £148 billion in funds under management. As of Thursday morning (13th April) shares in the firm are trading flat at 1211p for a market cap of £6.64 billion.
