Thomas, formally head of Momentum’s UK retail business until October last year, will work closely with Peter Elston who has been promoted to chief investment officer less than six months after joining the firm from Aberdeen Asset Management, originally as global investment strategist.

This month marks one year since parent Seneca Investment Managers gained FCA approval in its takeover of Miton Capital Partners.

The now six-strong investment team runs £400m across two multi-asset OEICs, Diversified Income Fund and Diversified Growth Fund, as well as its Global Income & Growth Trust and segregated accounts.

Ian Currie, chairman of Seneca Investment Management, outlined the firm’s ambitions to become a leading name in fund management.

“Peter’s promotion to CIO acknowledges the leading role he plays in the Seneca investment proposition. He will be at the centre of our aim to preserve and extend our clients’ hard earned capital and his wealth of experience has already enabled us to further strengthen our investment process.”
