Scrimgeour will join M&G on 11 June and replaces Les Scrine who has retired from M&G after almost 30 years at the firm.

Her most recent position with BlackRock was as co-head of fixed income business management and a member of the executive committee, leading the $1trn BGI/BlackRock fixed income division.

Before this she was chief operating officer for international fixed income for five years and she also spent three years as head of Merrill Lynch Investment Managers’ alternative investment group for EMEA (now part of BlackRock).

Michael McLintock, chief executive of M&G and Scrimgeour’s direct report, said: "Michelle brings a wealth of highly relevant and practical experience to M&G."
