Schroders has appointed Alex Tedder as co-head of equities alongside Rory Bateman, who has been in the role since March 2019.

In his new position, Tedder will oversee the firm’s global, quantitative and developed market investment teams, while Bateman will be responsible for Schroders’ Asian and Emerging Markets desks.

Tedder has headed up the group’s global and US equity teams for almost a decade, having joined after eight years at American Century Investments in 2014. This new role will have him overseeing a broader set of strategies across Schroders.

Of his new partner, Bateman said: “Over the past 10 years, I have collaborated extensively with Alex. His exceptional skills in navigating the complexities of equity markets, his talent for stock selection, and his impressive investment track record, combined with his ability to impart senior-level guidance to our team, render him an indispensable part of our equities leadership.”

Tedder’s appointment was one of a trio of promotions made today. Simon Webber took Tedder’s role as head of global equities, with Mark Lacey rising to head of thematic equities.

Webber has been a portfolio manager at Schroders since 1999, with Lacey having been responsible for commodities at the firm from 2013.
