Schroders Personal Wealth (SPW) has opened an operational centre in Leeds as part of its long-term regional growth strategy.

The office will be based in City Square in Leeds city centre and will act as a regional hub for clients based in Yorkshire and the North East.

Chris Lomas will lead the new hub, alongside a team of personal wealth advisers and a local support team.

Commitment to grow

Schroders Personal Wealth chief executive Mark Duckworth (pictured) said opening a Leeds office shows the firm’s “continued commitment” to grow.

“Expanding our regional presence will ensure that our clients can benefit from a more personal and local experience, allowing them to develop strong relationships with our advisers and support teams within the region,” he added.

SPW has also established offices and hubs in Cardiff, Bristol, Horsham, Cambridge, Oxford, Edinburgh, Exeter, and Manchester. An office in Birmingham is due to open in October.

Cazenove Capital also announces regional expansion

Meanwhile, Schroders’ wealth management arm Cazenove Capital is also focusing on regional development, with recent adviser hires in the Midlands and South West.

Craig Jones will join the Birmingham office as a portfolio director bringing over 30 years’ experience at HSBC Private Bank, where he was responsible for advising entrepreneurs, business owners and families on strategic planning and investment management.

Omar Iqbal will also join the Birmingham team as wealth planning director. Iqbal joins from Barclays Wealth where he worked with high-net-worth clients and families on estate planning, retirement planning and tax restructuring.

Both Jones and Iqbal will report to David Price, head of the Birmingham office.

Elsewhere, Rhys Twomey has joined Cazenove Capital’s Bristol office as portfolio director. He joins from Coutts where he was responsible for succession planning for entrepreneurs and business owners.

Karan Sejpal, head of Cazenove Capital’s business owners’ and UK regional team, said the recent hires’ collective experience will be “invaluable” in achieving the firm’s regional growth ambitions.
