Schroders Personal Wealth has appointed Marcelo Rodrigues to lead its business development proposition across Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Rodrigues (pictured right) will be responsible for leading brand and marketing activities across Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as developing strategic partnerships to support business growth.

SPW regional director for Scotland and Northern Ireland Donald Gateley (pictured left) said that the appointment “reflects our continued commitment to Scotland and Northern Ireland and builds on our long-term regional growth strategy to widen our offering to all parts of the UK.”

Gateley added that Rodrigues’ knowledge and experience and extensive network across many business organisations in Scotland and Northern Ireland makes him ideally placed to support SPW’s “mission of providing more advice to more people”.

He joins from Edinburgh wealth management boutique RMS Financial and has previously held senior management positions at Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group.

Rodrigues said: “I’m delighted to have joined SPW as it continues to grow its regional presence. We have ambitious plans and I look forward to leading our growth strategy and developing strong partnerships in Scotland and Northern Ireland.”

The appointment comes shortly after SPW bolstered its Northern Ireland team with the hiring of two personal wealth advisers, Pamela Wilson and Steven Crothers last month.

Despite its ambitions SPW has struggled to attract client cash since it was launched by Schroders and Lloyds in 2019. Last year the financial planning business racked up £200m of net outflows which it blamed on a drop in client referrals due to Covid-19 restrictions.
