Paul Grainger is due to make the transition to a senior portfolio manager role in June, joining from an associate partner and fixed income manager berth with Wellington Management. Grainger will be based in London, reporting to Schroders’ head of global macro Bob Jolly.
The recruitment of David Gottlieb, Vincent Messina and Whitney Tindale further complements Schroders’ global macro team. The trio joined from Third Wave Asset Management in May to run a strategy focusing on US relative-value opportunities.
Quantitative strategist Mads Nielsen is also set to arrive at the firm in June from a macro and total return-focused role at GLG Partners.
“Expanding the depth of talent within Schroders’ Global Macro team is about diversifying our sources of alpha,” Jolly said.
Philippe Lespinard, Schroders’ co-head of fixed income, added: “Bond market dynamics are evolving and hiring people with proven ability to analyse, assess and predict what this evolution means is a clear competitive advantage.”
The Schroders global macro team oversees the firm’s UK, Euro and Global Aggregate funds, alongside its Global Sovereign, Absolute Return and Unconstrained strategies.
