Schroders Personal Wealth and Tilney Smith & Williamson have both announced new hires in Northern Ireland as they eye up further expansion in the region.

Claire McCombe will join Tilney Smith & Williamson’s Belfast team as an investment manager, while Schroders Personal Wealth has hired two personal wealth advisers, Pamela Wilson and Steven Crothers.

SPW chief executive Mark Duckworth (pictured) said the hires are an “important step” in Schroder’s regional growth strategy to widen its offering to other parts of the UK. He added that Wilson and Crothers will “play a pivotal role in establishing our presence in Northern Ireland and delivering our goal of giving more advice to clients across the regions.”

Wilson and Crothers have 55 years’ combined experience in financial services, with the former joining from Moore Stephens Financial Services and the latter from high net worth firm True Potential.

Tilney also said it was also looking to capitalise on its larger position in Northern Ireland following its merger with Smith & Williamson. It now has a 42-person strong team in Belfast with over £1.2bn of assets and is eyeing further expansion.

Emma Sharp, head of investment management in Belfast said: “This is a hugely exciting time for the business as we come together following the merger last year to offer clients in Northern Ireland a truly unique proposition. We are delighted to welcome someone of Claire’s calibre to the team and she will be integral to our growth and development over the coming months.”

Before joining Tilney, McCombe previously lead Barclays Wealth and Investment Management’s private banking business in Northern Ireland for six years and worked for Bank of Scotland as an investment director before that.
