In the meantime, the role will be taken on by interim managing director Tony Overy though a permanent replacement is being sought.

The official line is: “Saunderson House can confirm that Tony Overy is acting as the company’s interim managing director following Nick Fletcher’s recent departure from the business. Tony has been with the company for 22 years and has served on the board of directors for 15 years.”

Almost a year ago to the day, Fletcher welcomed a new senior recruit (Lawrence Mason as an associate director) with the comment that he was joining “what must now be the strongest and most knowledgeable management and investment advisory team in the UK financial wealth management industry.”

Formed in 1968, Saunderson House is an ambitious firm and has talked many times of its growth plans. In 1998 it acquired a team from Minet Consultancy Services before being bought three years later by the IFG Group for £7m.

Its immediate future is as a standalone business though IFG Group as recently as last year was in talks with a private equity firm over a proposed sale.
