It follows the appointment of Charlie Parker (pictured) in October 2017, who has been tasked with expanding the portfolio management division.

Szabo joins from Oxford Capital where he worked with high net worth private clients. He has been in the industry more than 17 years, previously working as an associate director at Tilney. He has also held private client roles at Nationwide Building Society, Zurich and Bradford and Bingley.

In his new role, Szabo will report to London office head Stuart McCann.

Parker joined from Neptune Investment Management, which has suffered a number of staff exit in the last couple of years. Most recently it announced its India fund manager Kunal Desai was exiting for an unnamed emerging markets fund.

Parker said Sanlam is growing its team to meet the changing and growing needs of its client base. He said Szabo had a client-centric approach and experience working with high net worth clients.

In a statement, Sanlam said it is committed to creating a vertically integrated firm, bringing together its various operations under one brand. The company has £13bn assets under management.
