Sanlam UK has appointed a Brewin Dolphin associate investment manager as it expands its sales team.
Tom Whitfield (pictured) will become sales support executive.
Whitfield had been associate investment manager for seven years at Brewin, where he was responsible for managing “significant” assets under management for discretionary and advisory clients, Sanlam UK said in a press release. He was responsible for relationship management, business development and portfolio management.
At Sanlam UK, he will report to Ricky Hoad, client services manager.
Liz Adnitt, sales director at Sanlam UK, said Whitfield brings “real insight and contacts within the market” and described his appointment as an “exciting step” for their UK distribution team.
Adnitt said expanding the firm’s infrastructure meant it could “markedly” increase client engagement.
Richard Pursglove was appointed head of distribution in September 2018.
The appointment follows news this week that Sanlam had acquired Thesis Asset Management in a move described as “clearly designed” to help push it toward the “big, established players” in the wealth management space.
