Sanlam Four has launched a real assets fund for Mike Pinggera.

The Sanlam Real Assets fund will target regular income and capital growth through investments in listed securities that derive their value from underlying real assets, including Reits, investment trusts and specialist companies with a focus on physical assets.

Pinggera (pictured), who is also responsible for Sanlam Four’s £155m Multi-Strategy Fund, will manage the fund which has already attracted £55m of investment.

Sanlam Four said there is no restriction on access vehicles because the overriding mandate is real asset exposure.

Tom Carroll, investment director at Sanlam Four, said: “Much of the available real asset exposure currently stems from private equity style vehicles where investors forego liquidity in exchange for exposure and return. Listed real assets securities are particularly important for investors who have traditionally been unable to access real assets due to the liquidity terms and minimum investment sizes demanded by private vehicles.”

Pinggera added: “The Sanlam Real Assets fund has been launched in response to demand from existing investors who wanted additional real asset exposure to supplement their own asset allocation decisions. We see real assets as an ideal way to reflect our long held ‘pillars of a functioning economy’ investment theme and provide access to long-term structural and demographic trends.”
