Most recently Hughes worked in James Millard’s investment solutions team and his departure date is not yet known, although Skandia confirmed he would be staying on until his responsibilities had been handed over.
Hughes does not yet have another job, Skandia’s spokesperson added, but the decision to leave was termed “amicable”.
He had worked for the group for seven years and prior to the merger of Skandia Investment Group (SIG) and Old Mutual Asset Management into Old Mutual Global Investors had been on the SIG side of the business.
Change in focus
With the rebrand Hughes moved into the investment solutions team responsible for the product and solutions available to financial advisers on the Skandia platform, rather than taking a role in the asset management side of the business.
The investment solutions team’s most recent project has been working on the launch of the Skandia Select range planned for later in the year, which will have 23 funds run by star managers from other investment companies. Read more here…
A spokesperson at Skandia said the firm wished him well in his future career, while Hughes said he had “seven thoroughly enjoyable years at Skandia but now was the time to move on to something new”.
Before starting at Skandia, Hughes worked at Chartwell Asset Management for five years and Kohn Cougar for a year.
