Craib-Cox joins from Aviva Investors where he was responsible for the convertible bond team for more than six years. Prior to this, he was within the convertible bond team at M&G Investments. Overall he has more than 24 years’ experience in financial services and spent a decade working in convertible bond markets.

Basile joined RWC 10 years ago to build the convertible bond team and is now responsible for more than $1.2bn (£860m) in AUM across a range of institutional accounts and Ucits funds, specialising in global convertibles and Asia specific convertible funds.

He said the team is expanding because of increased interest in the convertibles asset class “as the rate and volatility environment provide a compelling backdrop”.

“Justin comes with a strong background in convertibles having been both a Europe focused analyst and portfolio manager,” he added. “We have known each other for many years and it is a really great opportunity to bring him into RWC.

“We see renewed opportunities within the asset class and Justin’s experience in analysis, portfolio management and client interactions, will provide a significant enhancement to the team’s ability to grow and take advantage of the market environment.”

Dan Mannix, chief executive officer at RWC, added: “It’s a great vote of confidence in the opportunities in the asset class that Davide has chosen now to build out the team with someone as experienced and well regarded as Justin.”
