Luu joins from Norges Bank Investment Management, where he was a senior analyst for investment policy and allocation strategies. Prior to this he spent three years as a senior analyst in the global strategy team at Russell Investments.

Luu will be based in London and report to the global head of investment strategy, Andrew Pease.

He will contribute to the portfolio positioning recommendations provided by the strategy team and have responsibility for formulating Russell’s views on currency pairs, working with the currency management and trading business on hedging solutions.

“I am very excited to appoint Van and welcome him back to Russell Investments. Van has a strong academic background and wealth of experience as a senior investment professional,” Pease said. “This is the second appointment we’ve made in investment strategy this year, following the hire of Paul Eitelman from J.P. Morgan to our Seattle office, and we look forward to their contributions.”

“Multi-asset solutions are at the heart of what we offer to institutions and retail investors, and we believe it’s vital to have a strong global team of dedicated strategist feeding insight into our investment views,” said Christophe Caspar, CIO for multi asset. “Van’s currency expertise will play an important role in creating investments that meet our clients’ needs.”

Russell Investments has over $272bn in assets under management.
