Al Jalso will move from Seattle to London to run global bond funds, while Gerard Fitzpatrick will move from London to Seattle to run the RIC Strategic Bond Fund.

Jalso, who joined the firm in 2007, will take responsibility for a range of fixed income funds including the RIC Global Bond and the OpenWorld Global Dynamic Bond funds, as well as a number of global and international bond products in the group’s institutional businesses. His main role includes portfolio design, development and management, risk analysis and client service.

The change took effect from 1 September and the exact funds he will take on are the RIC Global Bond, RIC 2 Global Bond, MSMM Global Bond, RIML International Bond – Australia, RIJ International Bond – Tokyo and the ROW Global Dynamic Bond.

Gerard Fitzpatrick was responsible for the management of all Russell’s global bond funds as well as single manager fixed income funds. His new role will give him greater responsibility than he had in London and he will also manage several portfolios in the Russell Trust Company funds.

On the macro environment Jalso will be operating in he commented: “Global credit markets are shaping policy and impacting legislative decisions that will have broader implications for the world economy for years to come, and Europe is the epicentre of this activity.”
