Peter Rutter, James Clarke and William Kenney, all formerly of Waverton Investment Management, have joined RLAM in efforts to bolster the firm’s global equity offering.

Rutter, previously head of equities at Waverton, will hold on to the same job title while at RLAM answering to CIO Piers Hillier while Clarke and Kenney take up positions as senior fund managers.

CIO Hillier said: “We are thrilled to have Peter, James and William on board and to see RLAM’s equity capabilities expand. We boosted our UK equity capability last year, through the hires of Richard Marwood and Henry Lowson and look forward to meeting clients’ demand for global equity products this year.”

Both Clarke and Kenney have worked for Deutcshe Asset Management in the past. Clarke was also a partner at IronBridge Capital Management and Kenney a partner at Spencer House Capital Management before moving to Waverton.

Rutter has held positions in Deutsche Asset Management’s global equities team earlier in his career before becoming a partner at IronBridge.

The new team will continue to sub-advise on the Waverton Global Core Equity Fund as well as manage the Ironbark Royal London Concentrated Global Share Fund on behalf of Ironbark Asset Management.

Rutter said they were “delighted” to be able to maintain relationships with other firms going forward and said: “We’re really pleased to be joining RLAM and its expanding equity team. This gives us the opportunity to combine our experience, approach and insights into global equities with RLAM’s strong distribution capability, both in the institutional and wholesale space.”

With the new team in place, RLAM plans to offer its own global equities solutions in 2017, building on its current £30bn in equity assets.
