Roper will be based in St James’s Place’s Edinburgh office where he will work with private clients in the region and provide DFM solutions to SJP partners.

In addition to his five years as the director and investment manager at Tilney Bestinvest, Roper has years of experience advising across the investment planning spectrum, including portfolio restructurings, asset allocation, self-invested personal pensions and discretionary management.

“When expanding geographically, it is essential to bring people with an in-depth knowledge of the region and Peter’s proven track record advising local clients for more than 15 years will prove invaluable to the firm,” explained Rowan Dartington executive chairman Graham Coxell.

The Edinburgh appointment is the latest in Rowan Dartington’s series of hires this year, in an effort to expand its footprint across the UK.

“Developing a presence in Scotland has been a priority since the acquisition by St. James’s Place and Edinburgh was the obvious starting point for us,” Coxell added.
